Training developers is only part of the equation—retaining talent and ensuring long-term employment present additional challenges. Web3Bridge's program is intentionally intensive, running for four months, six days a week, with five-hour daily sessions totaling 30 hours per week.

This demanding schedule, combined with infrastructure challenges like poor internet connectivity and unstable electricity, creates obstacles for participants. Some students also balance full-time Web2 jobs while attempting to complete the program.

Despite these challenges, Web3Bridge graduates have found remarkable success. "That's money that could've gone into developer tools, programs, or expansion if we didn't have to solve basic power issues ourselves," he emphasizes.

Travel restrictions and visa policies also hinder collaboration across the continent. It's often cheaper and easier to travel from Kenya to Europe than to Nigeria, limiting mobility, partnerships, and event hosting.

"If governments stepped up to fix just education, infrastructure, and travel policies, they'd be solving 70% of the problem," Awosika states. "That would free us up to focus on real innovation."

The Future of Africa's Web3 Ecosystem

Looking ahead five years, Awosika is optimistic about Africa's Web3 future. He predicts the continent will produce its first Web3 unicorn and gain significantly more visibility and credibility globally.

"Right now, people are still chasing opportunities abroad," he notes. "But the way we're building, I see that flipping. In five years, international teams will be coming here, looking to collaborate, hire, or even set up shop."

This shift will occur as it becomes more efficient to tap into Africa's talent pool rather than flying people overseas. Awosika believes Africa will become "a force to be reckoned with in the global ecosystem" within the next five years.
